This week we are working on a short news story. There have been a lot of local, state, national, and international stories in recent days. Today, browse a few news websites of your choice and choose one story that you might be interested in covering. On your blog, post a link to a particular article (straight news story). In a short blog post (rant style) comment on the story (its validity, your opinion, etc). Make sure to title the post with today’s date (11/14).

Your first draft profiles were due in the folder “Profile 11/7” on Tuesday. As of now, there are only a couple of drafts in that folder.

  1. Please make sure your draft is moved to that folder.
  2. Comment on at least TWO other classmates’ drafts. Please provide POSITIVE and CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. In other words, your comments should either be uplifting, or promoting the writer to produce meaningful change.

This is due by the end of the period TODAY. If your comments are not posted today you will not get credit!

Happy peer editing!

Monday, November 7

Your first draft of your profile is due today at the end of the day. Please let me know if you want me to look over what you’ve done so far and offer some feedback. When in doubt, check out the examples that I posted last week. Remember, there should be equal parts “narration” and commentary to direct quotations from your subject. It should not read as one long interview.
