This week we are working on a short news story. There have been a lot of local, state, national, and international stories in recent days. Today, browse a few news websites of your choice and choose one story that you might be interested in covering. On your blog, post a link to a particular article (straight news story). In a short blog post (rant style) comment on the story (its validity, your opinion, etc). Make sure to title the post with today’s date (11/14).

Your first draft of your profile is due today at the end of the day. Please let me know if you want me to look over what you’ve done so far and offer some feedback. When in doubt, check out the examples that I posted last week. Remember, there should be equal parts “narration” and commentary to direct quotations from your subject. It should not read as one long interview.

If you have no interview yet and little to do, please read this example of a profile. Note its arrangement. It reads like a story, with long swathes of description interspersed throughout quotes. This is what you should also strive for!
